Hot Off The Presses
I like real life.
Often people ask me how I get my clients to act so real. This was literally the scene as I came in the door. I am lucky enough that my clients trust me enough to just keep being real even when I start taking their pictures.
Fourth picture I took...I saw this girl once when she was wee. She wore a pumpkin hat and had the cutest expression. I bet some of you remember that picture. Well...she has grown up quite a bit since then and was so lovely to visit. She even made me a sandwich. It was a bit tough to chew(made of wood), but tasty none the less.

Then and Now
This is from their first or second session(wish I knew...)...way back THEN:
And, then, this is from today...right at the end of the session when we decided to go outside for a few:
It is such a pleasure to watch them grow...and I will admit to getting a bit choked up when I saw how big they were this year. I see them every year...for the last 5 or 6 years. And, in their house they have a hallway that is the 'Short and Sweet' gallery...there are other canvases scattered around, too...a reminder of just how long it's been. They grow too fast.

PS--their mom is a fabulous local stylist who gives Fashion advice on the CBC Homestretch show, as well as, at Southcentre Mall...check out her blog.
Kids Are Brilliant
Kids are brilliant. If left to their own devices, they will ALWAYS give me better stuff than I can come up with in my own dinky imagination. This series was taken--just the two of us--mom watching from the corner(I think we might have got into trouble even...him for being too goofy, me for encouraging him...ha.) I could have done my 'normal' thing with him...or I could just let him play with his goggles and see what happened. I always choose to do the latter... People always ask me how I get kids to do such great stuff...that's how. Kids are brilliant. I just create a space for them to show me exactly how they're brilliant.
This series is from a family session I did back in December. Time flies...I have space for one more session in January. Just saying :)
