I fell in love with photography because of my kids. That's really where this whole thing started. I couldn't stop photographing them—and honestly, I still can't. The collection of images we've built together over the years is one of my most treasured possessions, and it taught me something I now know in my bones: these moments go fast, and a photograph is one of the only ways to hold onto them.
I launched my little business in 2007 from the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, and what a journey it's been. I had no idea when I started that photography would take me all over the world—photographing families, speaking at conferences, teaching other photographers, and working with some incredible commercial clients along the way.
In 2010, the NAPCP named me their first-ever Child Photographer of the Year—an honour I still pinch myself about. I've been one of their most award-winning photographers ever since. My work has been featured in industry publications and blogs, but what I'm most proud of is that it hangs on people's walls.
Over the years I've had the privilege of speaking at and presenting at conferences across North America, teaching courses to photographers who want to grow their craft, and judging image competitions. I've also had the opportunity to work on documentary projects internationally, including work in India with Momenta Workshops and personal work in Europe, Thailand, Bolivia, Iceland and beyond—experiences that fundamentally changed how I see and make photographs.
These days I'm best known for my Family Adventure Sessions. These are activity-based portrait sessions designed to help families actually relax and enjoy each other, rather than standing stiffly in front of a camera. I also have a natural light studio in Okotoks, AB, and I've become one of the only photographers in the Calgary/Okotoks area with an extensive underwater portfolio.
My work spans family, maternity, newborns, kids, teens, graduations, headshots, weddings, and commercial/branding photography. I'm based in Okotoks but available for travel worldwide.
Commercial Clients
I've had the pleasure of working with a wide range of commercial clients over the years, including: The Sobey’s Foundation, The Calgary Health Foundation, The Alberta Summer Games, Strides Running Store, Hoka, On Runners, Salomon, Brooks, New Balance, The Educational Partnership Foundation, The Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede, The Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation and more.
A Little More About Me
My family and I live in Okotoks, AB. My husband Bob is an engineer and the proudest person in the room at any of my accomplishments (his words, and also kind of true). My kids Jack and Georgia are now young adults out in the world doing incredible things. Watching them grow up has made me a better photographer, because I know firsthand how quickly these chapters close.
If you want to see more of my work, there are years of blog posts archived here, and you can also find me on Instagramand Facebook.
I'd love to hear from you — get in touch here.
