Pool Party Sessions

So, everyone who's been following my blog knows that I have recently fallen in love with underwater photography. I know what you are all thinking....I live in Alberta. How much underwater photography can I do? Well...gosh darnit...I am going to try and figure out a way to do it as much as possible ;) Here are some samples from my recent 'pool party sessions' I offered. I would love LOVE love to do this again, so if you would like to get some unique portraits of your kids(or yourself), email me to get on a list for future potential dates. AND...if you are lucky enough to have a pool and would like me to come and do this for your friends and family--well, I would be happy to create a 'Pool Party' date just for you :) I have been lucky to already be invited out to some cabins this summer, but I'd love to visit you and your family at your cabin :) Pictures off your dock or our on your boat? Sounds like a great idea to me ;)

Older Children

True Story: Photographing older children used to scare me.

Just a bit.

Okay, I lied...quite a lot actually.

But, that has truly changed. I know that part of that is the fact that my own children are older. I also know that I have been privileged enough to photograph hundreds of children now, so I have found ways to connect with kids that I didn't understand before...of course, that is what happens when you spend years working on your craft. But, it's more than that. Now...truth be told...I like photographing older kids. They bring a depth to the session that only comes with age. I'm not saying that small children aren't deep--on the contrary. There have been way too many times when small children have blown my mind during a session for me to be that naive. But...if you can find a way to connect with older kids...it is so rewarding. You are able to see their past--who they were as a toddler and the little light of that still flickering beneath the surface. You are also able to see their future...a teeny little spark of who they just might become. Fascinating...

Child Model Contest

So, in case you missed it--I'm looking for some kids to feature in my new promotional material!!

So, do you think your kid could be a model?!

Well, if you do, just follow the link to the contest on my Facebook page and upload a recent photograph of your child. Then encourage your friends to go and like your picture. The two boys and the two girls with the most votes will receive a complimentary photo session on July 9th in Calgary, AB. I will gift them the digital files from the session, as well as, an 11×14 print(approximate prize value per child is $1000). The contest will run until midnight on June 13th, 2013. Winners will be announced on June 14th.

Some Things To Note:

*to participate, children must be between the ages of 4-12 years old (NOTE: AFTER A FEW REQUESTS, I HAVE LOWERED THE AGE TO 4 YEARS OF AGE)

*children must be able to participate in the July 9th photography session. It will be in the early evening in Calgary. If they are unable to participate in that photography session, the prize will go to the child with the next highest number of votes.

*parents must be willing to sign a model release allowing Dana Pugh to use the images created for promotion and stock photography.

*make sure that your friends understand that they need to click all the way through to the image on the contest page to vote. They'll see a 'vote' button. The application wants access to your Facebook information only to insure that each person only votes once. I am not keeping any other information aside from vote count ;)

There is still lots of time left, so sign your kid up and get your friends to vote!!! You could see your kid in my new promotional material!!!

Pool Party Sessions
